Reverse Alarm Clock

Reverse Alarm Clock is designed to keep young children (2-4 years old) from waking their parents in the middle of night by telling time in a way that children can understand, using visual elements, such as stars, moon and sun, and audio elements, such as wakeup songs. The sky display has three states: bedtime when the stars and moon are on, in-between when only stars are on, and wakeup when sun is on, giving the child the ability to make good decisions, like leaving bed only after the in-between state. This work follows a research through design approach, to address "inchoate" experiences in people's role and environment transitions caused by stress, decrease in felt-life qualities, and lack of order; and to help people to compose their role-identity and character as they perform a specific role through the interaction with a product.
