Getting to downtown Chicago
Two airports serve the Chicago metropolitan area: O'Hare Field (ORD) and Midway (MDW). Both airports offer public transportation via subway to downtown Chicago. You can expect a taxi from O'Hare to the hotel to cost about $35-$40 (including tip) and a taxi from Midway to the hotel to cost about $25-$30 (including tip). Both airports offer hotel shuttles that will stop at a number of downtown hotels, including the InterContinental.

Getting to the InterContinental Hotel

The Hotel is easily accessed by public transportation, both bus and subway (the Chicago subway is actually not always underground and is generally referred to as the "el" short for "elevated").

What to do with your free time
There's a lot to do in Chicago! Of course you won't want to miss any of the exciting conference program, but with your free time you can easily explore:
- Chicago's lakefront. The InterContinental is a short walk to Oak Street Beach, one of Chicago's many Lake Michigan city beaches. - Chicago's parks. Also a short walk to the InterContinental are several beautiful parks two of which boast extraordinary public art and architecture: Millenium Park, Grant Park.
- The river walk. The InterContinental sits two blocks north of the Chicago River which has a lovely river walk you can stroll along and takes you right through downtown
- Shopping on the Magnificent Mile. The stretch of Michigan Avenue where the InterContinental sits is also referred to as the Magnificent Mile for its general shopping magnificence
